Workshop on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for Plastic Packaging in Munger, Bihar

A workshop was organized by UNEP on 18th June 2025 at the Munger Nagar Nigam Conference Hall. The objective was to engage key actors in the plastic waste value chain, to explore areas for collaboration for effective implementation of EPR in Munger. The meeting was chaired by the Mayor of Munger and attended by senior municipal officials. Participants included registered recyclers, cement plant representatives, local plastic waste aggregators, brand representatives, researchers, and government research laboratory (CIPET). The consultation fostered constructive dialogue on improving plastic waste management in the city and discussed various models which can be deployed for generation of EPR credits for Munger Municipal Corporation.
