The workshop featured focused presentations by UNEP on three critical themes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Understanding new provisions in the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules 2026 \u2013 highlighting regulatory updates and implications for municipal operations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Enforcing Single-Use Plastics (SUP) bans and promoting alternatives \u2013 emphasizing strategies for effective enforcement and showcasing viable substitutes to reduce plastic dependency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Operationalizing Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) with Municipal Corporations \u2013 outlining mechanisms for integrating EPR frameworks into municipal waste management systems to strengthen accountability and resource recovery.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The interactive discussions provided valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by Malkajgiri in implementing these measures.
