In support of the implementation of national policies on plastics waste management, UNEP convened a Workshop on Plastics Waste Management with Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on 25th August 2026. RWAs, as local, non-governmental, and non-profit community bodies, play a pivotal role in managing neighbourhood affairs, including waste management. Their grassroots presence makes them essential partners in advancing sustainable practices. This workshop was designed to raise awareness and build capacities on the recently notified Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) Rules and the ban on selected Single-Use Plastic (SUP) items. Beyond knowledge dissemination, the workshop served as a platform to gather ground-level experiences from RWAs on plastics waste management. By sharing best practices and challenges, participants are expected to contribute to shaping more effective and inclusive approaches. Approximately 30 RWA representatives attended the workshop in person, ensuring diverse perspectives from across Delhi and NCR.<\/p>\n
