The eight northeastern states of India\u2014Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura\u2014generate only 1.93% of the country\u2019s urban waste, with over 85% collected. However, waste processing is a challenge, with Sikkim processing just 16.68%, while the rest ends up in landfills, waterbodies, and forests, threatening biodiversity.
